Background | This artist-in-residence program was launched as a main measure following the Takamatsu City Plan for the Promotion of Arts and Culture developed in March 2015. |
Location / Environment | Takamatsu, with a population of 420,000 and an area of 375.23 square meters, is the largest city in the Japan’s smallest prefecture, Kagawa. Blessed with nature, the city stretches from the Seto Inland Sea in the north to the mountains on the border of Tokushima prefecture in the south. Takamatsu is also one of the venues of the Setouchi Triennale, an international art festival, which is held once every three years on several islands of the Seto Inland Sea. |
