We aim to open up new possibilities for our local community by inviting artists and curators working in various fields, including architects, from Japan and abroad to play leading roles in our artist-in-residence program and freely make the best use of the urban area, a space for our everyday lives, as a place for experimentation.

Kyoto Art Center’s Artist-in-Residence Program offers support to emerging artists and art researchers who wish to pursue creative activities in Kyoto. We switch between hosting visual artist and performing artist every year. In 2021, the program is open for visual artists / researchers.

For this program we welcome artists of different performing arts genres such as: street performance, bodily expression, musical instrument performance, singing, live painting, dance, different circus disciplines (except all aerials acts, work with Chinese pole, tightrope walking, teeterboard, work with fire, performances which require perfectly flat surface)
