NIJIRI

Objective This organization works to promote exchange and revitalization by focusing on nature, historical sites, history, people, and events—including those in Oku-Yamato, which borders Asuka and Fujiwara. Through a DAO approach, we aim to break away from the logic of economic capital by bringing together ownership, labor, and use, thereby transforming them into commons. Our goal is to shift toward valuing social capital and natural capital instead.
Organization activities ・Residential programs (including temporary relocation experiences)
・Planning and operation of exhibitions, seminars, workshops, market events, and community interaction events
・Information dissemination using social media and other platforms
・Planning and operation of tour and experience programs that visit and engage with local communities
Founded in 2025
Background Driven by residents and U-turners who recognized the need for a community platform for interaction, this project was launched as part of a commissioned initiative by Kashihara City to promote migration and foster regional exchange.
Location / Environment NIJIRI is located in Imai Town, which have been designated as a National Important Traditional Building Preservation District. It is within walking distance of Yamato-Yagi Station, which connects to Nagoya, Osaka, Kyoto, and Yoshino. Imai town was established as a temple town during the late medieval period and developed into a commercial hub during the Edo period. Today, it still boasts over 500 well-preserved townhouses featuring exceptional architectural design.
Notes There are various places where have experience ancient history, such as Asuka and Fujiwara.
We've established relationships with professionals in traditional craftsmanship, including those in Uda, where medicinal herb culture remains alive, and Yoshino, where woodworking and Washi papermaking traditions continue to thrive. We also maintain connections with Kashihara College of Art, which is located nearby.
