Objective The Mishima Mangan Art Festival aims to create and promote new local charms by fusing contemporary art with the rich history, culture, and natural resources of Mishima City, Shizuoka Prefecture, such as its clean spring waters.

By creating spaces for co-creation among artists, local citizens, and tourists, the festival seeks to revitalize the local community and foster civic pride. Furthermore, it aims to contribute to the sustainable development of the region by promoting tourism through culture and art (expanding the "relational population") and nurturing the next generation of creative talent.

Misima Mangan Art Festival (every 2 years)
Founded in 2023
Background Inspired by our experience as a host for the "Micro Art Workation (MAW)" residence program organized by Arts Council Shizuoka in 2020, we launched local revitalization projects through contemporary art. Since 2023, we have hosted the Mishima Mangan Art Festival for three consecutive years, transforming public spaces and vacant houses across Mishima City into exhibition venues. The festival features an artist-in-residence approach, where some of the participating artists stay in the city to immerse themselves in the local community while creating their work.
