Objective Art and design created in a community serve as an archive of that place, becoming a reflection of its time. Works made by artists who have stayed in the town — absorbing "Kamishihoro as it exists today" — will become part of what shapes the future landscape and culture of the community.
Alongside the artwork already present throughout the town, we aim to grow a collection that captures present-day Kamishihoro. We envision a place where visitors can stroll through town and feel its history and culture, and where art becomes something close to the hearts of residents — a source of everyday pride. This is the "A Town as a Museum" we are working to bring to life.

Founded in 2023
Background In 2023, we launched a creator residency program to foster connections between Kamishihoro Town and people from around the world. From 2024, Nezuku has served as the program's administrative office, working in partnership with Kamishihoro Town to host and support creators during their residencies.
Location / Environment Kamishihoro Town is a small town of approximately 5,000 people located in the northern part of the Tokachi area in Hokkaido. With more cows than people, the town is surrounded by the vast mountains of Daisetsuzan National Park and the rich farmland of the Tokachi Plain, offering beautiful scenery that changes with the seasons. It is also well known as the "Town of Hot Air Balloons," having hosted Japan's first hot air balloon competition, drawing enthusiastic fans from across the country.
