Echangeur 22

Description Echangeur22 is an artist in residence in Saint Laurent des Arbres, near Avignon, France. Its annual open call “Mobility Program” invites 1 artist each from France, Japan, Brazil and Korea. In total, 4 selected artists from these four regions will stay together at Echangeur22 and exchange ideas for 6 weeks between September and October. At the end of residence, the resulting works will be exhibited at La Chartreuse (https://chartreuse.org/site/ ), an exceptional site classified as a historic monument and part of the monastic complex of the Popes’ Palace (unesco world heritage) near Avignon.

Residency location Echangeur22 headquarter (Saint-Laurent-des-Arbres in the South of France)
Residency period 6 weeks from 1 September to 15 October in 2023
(the residence artists' exhibition will be held in the final week)
Qualification The project is aimed at artists with a professional practice, regardless of age, career, medium. Basic English communication skill is required so as to exchange ideas and develop works and exhibitions together with the other residency artists
Pay by artists / Support for artists The residence artists benefit from :
- A residency grant of 1000 euros
- A production budget of 1000 euros
- Accommodation in an equipped artist's studio
- A transportation allowance including a round trip to the place of residency.

Based on request, Echangeur22 also supports the residence artists to find necessary tools and places for their research/production and to access people and institutions in France to the extent possible.
Selection process The choice of the artists will be made on the basis of their application, by evaluating the relevance of the projects presented and their coherence with the artistic direction of the residency.

Composition of the jury : The applications will be studied by a college of E²²'s partner curators and composed of a selection committee for each country. Each regional selection committee (France, Japan, Brazil, South Korea) will provide necessary cultural knowledge to help the whole jury team to properly
designate the finalists, that is to say one artist from each country.

The result of selection will be emailed by the end of April 2023.
The selected artists, one artist from each country, will be invited to an interview by video conference if possible or by telephone if necessary.
