Micro Art Workation 2026 | Open Call for Artists and Creators to Travel Across Shizuoka

Applications are now open for Micro Art Workation (MAW) 2026, a program inviting artists and creators to travel across Shizuoka Prefecture and engage with local communities.

Unlike artist-in-residence programs focused on production and creation, MAW invites artists and creators to become “travelers,” spending approximately one week with local host organizations to foster encounters and exchanges between artists and local residents.

Since its launch in 2021, the program has connected 209 artists and creators with 66 host organizations, leading to more than 20 related initiatives, including group exhibitions and talk events, both within and outside Shizuoka Prefecture.

The program welcomes all artistic disciplines and is open not only to artists but also to cultural managers and arts professionals. Participants will receive approximately JPY 100,000 as activity support.

Application deadline: Monday, 8 June 2026, 14:00 (JST)
