Objective The residency at AIT aims to create a place for international cultural exchange where artists, curators, writers, and educators with multidisciplinary works and practices share their experience and knowledge. In recent years, the program accelerates its format by collaborating with various organizations diversifying expertise and also locations to experiment with a potential relation between contemporary arts/culture and global issues.

Founded in 2003
Background In 2003 when the program was inaugurated, there was no residency to meet the demands of oversears artists, and curators seeking opportunities to stay in Tokyo. In recent years when the cultural map is developed, AIT Residency Program also invites individuals whose artistic interest relate to AIT's educational program, and various programs for the further collaboration.
Location / Environment AIT situates its office in a fashion district - Daikanyama, with many small shops, and cafes. The residence house is a 2-story former Japanese storage, "Kura," renovated into a modern-style space.
