Objective Through art and expression through leather, we practice the inheritance of a culture of deeper connections between people that transcend all things, such as connections between people and historical background.
Organization activities "Inviting/inviting artists from Japan and overseas to residencies and supporting their activities during their stay for a certain period of time.
We will work together to develop further means of expressing leather culture and revitalize the region. vinegar."
Founded in 2024
Background Takagi, Hanada-cho, Himeji City is one of the top leather producing areas in Japan, but Takagi is still relatively unknown, and we want more people to know about Himeji leather. We also want to protect and pass on this traditional industry. Encouraged by the passion of the local people, the project began.
Location / Environment L-AIR is located in Takagi, Hanada-cho, Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture, at the heart of one of Japan's leading leather-producing areas.

The facility includes an atelier and a residency building, both renovated from former factory spaces. The residency building has shared spaces on the first floor and two private, lockable bedrooms on the second floor. An exhibition hall is also available on the premises for presenting artworks.

Many tanneries and leather-related businesses are located nearby, allowing artists to experience Himeji's leather culture and craftsmanship firsthand and easily visit local facilities.

Himeji Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and JR Himeji Station are approximately 25 minutes away by car or about 30 minutes by bicycle. From Himeji Station, the Shinkansen provides convenient access to Osaka, Kyoto, and Kobe for day trips and sightseeing.

The neighborhood also has supermarkets, drugstores, convenience stores, set-meal restaurants, cafes, and other facilities within cycling distance, providing everything needed for daily life.

Bicycles are also available from L-AIR, making it possible to enjoy a comfortable stay while focusing on creative work.
