| Objective | An international artist-in-residence organization, Echangeur 22 makes annual open calls to artists of all mediums, without age limit. E22 will host simultaneously one French artist, one Japanese artist, one Brazilian artist, one South Korean artists for 6 consecutive weeks. As a residency for creation and experimentation, the project offers candidates the opportunity to meet, exchange and emulate with other residents from different cultures. It offers the conditions to conceive and produce a new work, as well as to conduct an original and experimental work, in a particular context, that of cultural mixity. |

| Organization activities | - Artists-in-residence program - Presentation of their artistic work at the beginning of their stay, to the whole team. - Collective exhibition/restitution at La Chartreuse de Villeneuve lez Avignon CIRCA, partner place since 2017. https://chartreuse.org/site/ - Support to help artists acquitant with art/cultuural agencies/institutions in France During the residency, the artists will be asked to question their own work in relation to the notion of circulation of works and mobility in art in anticipation of a possible participation in the MOBILITY circulation project developed by E22, a project of residencies and itinerant exhibitions between Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Tokyo (Japan) and Séoul (South Korea). |

| Background | Echangeur22 is a non-profit association that supports emerging contemporary artists along with a residency programme that aims to bring together artists from different countries and cultures, with a focus on encouraging artistic encounters. The objective of the residency is to encourage artists to create or experiment together. It offers them technical and financial means to test, produce and develop new ideas with a transcultural dimension, while establishing strong links with the host area. Since 2015, the ECHANGEUR22 residence has had the opportunity to welcome more than a hundred artists from Europe, Brazil, Japan and South Korea and to organize circulation projects between these 4 countries. |
| Location / Environment | The art residence E22 is located in Saint-Laurent-des-arbres, a small village of 3000 inhabitants, in the calm and charm of the Occitan region. The village is 20 km from Avignon, 20 km from Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, 1 hour from Montpellier and 1 hour from Marseille for example. You will benefit from easy access to local shops. In the residence you will have free access to the 500m2 workshop and all the tools necessary for your plastic production.Echangeur 22 will organize meetings with cultural institutions, local artists and associated curators as long as they are available. |

The restitution of the residency will take the form of an exhibition in the Bugade and the prison of the Chartreuse of Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, located less than an hour from the E22 headquarter.

The Chartreuse Notre-Dame-du-Val-de-Bénédiction is an ancient Carthusian monastery dating from the Middle Ages, located in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, in the Gard department in the Occitanie region.
The Chartreuse is the subject of multiple protections under the Historic Monuments and now largely restored. It seduces visitors with its harmonious proportions, the softness of its cloisters and the breach of light through a collapsed apse of its church.
