AIR Program information
Objective | Katsurao AIR is an artist in residence program held in the village of Katsurao in Fukushima Prefecture, focused on uncovering and promoting local resources through inviting artists to practice in the local community. With the projects and PR work undertaken by the artists as a catalyst to increase visitors to the village and build human connections, this program aspires to foster the diverse perspectives that art can bring to this region, transcending our different circumstances to explore new ways to be in community. |

Background | In 2021, Katsurao Village, Fukushima Prefecture, began a project as part of the "Artist Migration and Settlement Promotion Project"; in 2022, began art activities as Katsurao Collective; in April 2022, began Katsurao AIR as a residency project using Katsurao Junior High School (currently closed) as a studio. |
