AIR Program information

Objective	Make mokuhanga learning available to Westerners and develop links to Japanese Mokuhanga artists.
Organization activities	Mokuhanga residencies, open studio for Japanese mokuhanga artists, online workshop, international mokuhanga workshops, online shop for mokuhanga tools and materials.
Founded in	2018
Background	Founded and run by Terry McKenna, professional artist and trained mokuhanga artist. Terry studied mokuhanga in Kyoto and then ran the Australian Mokuhanga School for several years before returning to live in Japan in 2018.
Location / Environment	Located in scenic Karuizawa, only five minutes walk from Karuizawa station. We are just over one hour from Tokyo by shinkansen.

Studio informationAvailable

We have a well equipped Mokuhanga studio, with a separate design and carving studio, and a printing studio. Western style tables and chairs are in each room.

AccommodationsAvailable

Two Japanese style rooms are available, one 6 mat private room,, and one 8 mat shared room that has a dividing room. All facilities are shared - toilet, bathroom, kitchen and washing machine available.
