| Description | Kyoto Writers Residency is now accepting applications for the 2025 fall residency (18 Oct ~ 17 Nov 2025). We will offer full fellowship for one author in Japanese and a few in non-Japanese language(s), including one from ASEAN. 2025 Schedule: The application deadline is 31 March 2025 at 23:59 (Japan Time). We will announce the results at the end of May/beginning of June 2025. The residency will take place from 18 October to 17 November 2025. The Opening Forum will take place on 19 October 2025. |

| Qualification | - Fiction writers and/or poets of any language(s) with at least one single-authored full-length book publication are eligible. (Nonfiction-only writers are NOT eligible.) - The applicants must be able to participate in the residency, its Opening Forum, and the Closing Reading in full. - We encourage the applicants to provide proposals for outreach events other than the two official events. |
| Pay by artists / Support for artists | Application and Fee (for writers in non-Japanese languages): 30 USD entry fee paid through Shopify. Our fellowship will include (1) a round-trip ticket from your airport to Kansai International Airport; (2) a fully equipped room in the city of Kyoto; (3) access to a workspace; (4) per diem. |
| Selection process | A board of specialists will assess applications and select the participants. We plan to notify the applicants of the results at the end of May. Some applicants may be invited to an online interview. We will not accept any inquiries about the results of the selection. |
