| Description | We are pleased to announce our open call for the following programs of the next FAAM Artist in Residence Program FY2026. The programs will be held in three terms. Number of artists invited through the open call: First Period: around 2 (persons/groups) Second Period: around 2 (persons/groups) Third Period: around 2 (persons/groups) * Only 1 person will receive financial support by FAAM, if applicants are in a group. * There are no restrictions on the applicant’s place of residence or nationality. |

| Residency period | 1st period: mid-July, 2026 – mid-October, 2026 (approx. 90 days) 2nd period: October, 2026 – December, 2026 (approx. 80 days) 3rd period: mid-January, 2027– March, 2027 (approx. 70 days) * Period of residency will be decided according to the proposed project plan and discussion between the applicants and FAAM. |
| Qualification | Applicants must fulfil the following requirements: 1) Have a notable experience in contemporary art fields and are expected to expand careers on international levels in the future. 2) Convinced and motivated to engage in artistic exchange on a continual level within and across Asian regions, regardless of their location or nationality. 3) Be able to work for the FAAM artist in residence program for around 5 days a week. 4) Speak basic Japanese or English sufficient for daily communication in Japan. 5) Be able to submit a letter of recommendation written by an art professional, institute, or organization, etc. |
| Pay by artists / Support for artists | 1) Expenses for international and domestic travels ex.) Travel fees from place of residence to Fukuoka 2) Accommodation Fees* *NOT applicable to residents of Fukuoka City 3) Living expenses** (including breakfast and dinner, etc) **NOT applicable to residents of Fukuoka City 4) Expenses for art making and exhibition approved by FAAM (for a maximum of 500,000 JPY) 5) Expenses for art exchange programs 6) Publicity costs for the residency artist’s exhibition 7) Art insurance during the residency artist’s exhibition 8) Other required expenses approved by FAAM |
