  • Valletta Design ClusterValletta, Malta

The Maker in Residence is a residency programme for Designers and Makers at the Valletta Design Cluster, a community hub for cultural and creative practice in Malta. The residency offers designers time and space away from their usual routine to reflect, research, and consider new ways of developing their practice or product. Share your results with like-minded individuals, professionals, and the public through a final event, talk, workshop, and exhibition at the end of the residency. We welcome makers who are developing sustainable products, processes and materials such as those that reduce waste, conserve energy or use recycled material, and/or makers who are using their skills and creativity to reimagine existing products, services or systems. This includes makers who are developing new ways to produce or consume goods or creating new models for community problem-solving. Makers who are developing products and services that address social challenges such as urban greening, accessibility and promoting community engagement in making are also encouraged to join the programme. The residency is offered on an ongoing basis, wherein an artist can choose to spend between a minimum of two weeks to a maximum duration of three months.
