Fabrica was established in 1994. The residency is based in Treviso, Italy, in an old villa, restored and augmented by one of the most renowned contemporary architects, Tadao Ando. The programme is a six month residency for creative talents under the age of twenty five. It is a space for people from around the globe to live in a continuous exchange of experiences, where the worlds of art, culture and research meet to develop new ideas. Internationally renowned architects, musicians, historians, designers, artists, interaction designers, art directors, philosophers and sociologists faciliate this exchange of ideas through workshops, lectures and training. A selected group of creatives, informally referred to as “fabricanti” undertakes a training and research path through photography, visual communication, interaction design, videography, writing, music and more. The Bellagio Center residency offers an opportunity to advance a specific breakthrough project rather than a haven for private reflection, and a stimulating environment for making interdisciplinary and intercultural connections with other residents. In addition to the general public, thematic calls are available. We seek candidates from a broad range of fields, areas of practice and expertise, with diverse backgrounds and cultural perspectives. The General Open Call Residency is for all practitioners, academics and artists working in any discipline or area of study. Projects can be based on any topic but must demonstrate clear social impact and charitable purpose. Cittadellarte, Fondazione Pistoletto’s programme of artists’ residencies was founded in 1999. The programme is open to artists and professionals from all over the world and it aims at providing instruments for “artivators”, i.e. subjects working at the boundaries between artistic practices, processes of social change and collaborations with communities external to the art world, weaving together moments of interdisciplinary research, exchange of knowledge and practical activities. Our programme is focusing on season long research themes and developing four types of residency of different durations and with different objectives, grouped under the general heading of UNIDEE Residency Programs: UNIDEE Modules, Research Residency, Connective Residency and Organisations in Residency. Cittadellarte is located within the grade listed premises of the former Trombetta Wool Mill, a testimony of Biella’s past as one of the first European hubs within the textile industry.
Gate 44 is a visual culture production studio. We offer production-based residencies to visual artists, designers & creatives from all backgrounds and levels of expertise. Our professional studios are equipped for large-scale etching, screen printing, relief printing, lithography, bookmaking, and metalworking. Our goal is to accompany artists in the discovery process of new languages and technical solutions to add to their expressive toolkit. Artists have the option to be assisted by experts across various disciplines to produce mixed-media, complex projects. Self-led residencies are available depending studio availability.
