  • Akademie Schloss SolitudeStuttgart, Germany

Akademie Schloss Solitude is an international Artist-in-Residence Program and has supported approximately 1,700 young artists from more than 120 countries since opening its doors in 1990. Residencies enable fellows of all disciplines to devote themselves to their research projects under favorable material and intellectual conditions. In harmony with the castle’s location and history, Solitude is a retreat and »free zone« for art and life. It also has an exhibition venue, innovative laboratory, and arena for discourse. The Akademie’s fellows and guests use it as an artistic incubator, a projection screen; a place to make lasting connections or as an opportunity to realize a project without having to conform to conventions. • Frankfurt LABFrankfurt , Germany

The Frankfurt LAB, a vital performance and producing space for contemporary performing arts and music, in collaboration with the KfW Stiftung promotes international emerging artists in the performing arts (performance, dance, theatre, music). The Frankfurt Moves! artist residency annually invites four emerging artists – who were trained in Asia, Africa, Latin America or the MENA region – for a four-week stay in Frankfurt/Main, a metropolis in the heart of Europe. The artists in residence will be able to use the professional rehearsal spaces of the Frankfurt LAB to work on a new project or to conduct research. The program covers a fee, documentation, expenses for travel and accommodation (for up to two persons) as well as networking opportunities. At the end of the residency, it will be possible to present the results publicly. [Photo: Mehdi Dahkan © De-Da Productions.]

  • Künstlerhaus BethanienBerlin, Germany

As an international cultural centre in Berlin since 1975, the Künstlerhaus Bethanien has implemented and exhibited hundreds of projects with over 2.500 artists. The International Studio Programme is a platform for emerging artists from around the world. Over a fixed period, the focus of the Künstlerhaus Bethanien’s efforts lies on providing individual support and establishing connections between the artists in the program and the wider local context. The program offers curatorial support in the implementation of the artists’ projects, supplying workshops and technical infrastructure, presenting the projects produced, advertising all events organised by the resident artists, holding at least two annual “Open Studio”, editing and distributing the publications related to the projects presented at the institution, establishing contacts with international curators, critics, publicists, theorists, gallery owners and collectors, hosting seminars, talks and readings, liaising the artists with international institutions, projects and exhibitions. Artists must apply with one of the international partner institutions by responding to a public call. [Photo: ©Künstlerhaus Bethanien]

  • Stiftung Künstlerdorf SchöppingenSchöppingen, Germany

Since 1989, the Künstlerdorf Schöppingen supports international artists with its residency program. The stipend-funded fellowship of two to six months enables the realization of projects in the fields of literature, visual arts and composition.
Situated in the rural area of Münsterland, the Künstlerdorf awards around 40 grants each year and a total of about 900 artists have been invited. It is open to international applicants and has no age limit. The program offers the opportunity to regularly gain insight into artistic processes and to engage in personal exchange with the fellows. In addition to ongoing events such as monthly dinners and brunches, the Künstlerdorf organizes the annual Curating for Advanced Practices program, which aims to discuss production conditions and implementation issues for artistic practices and to develop new strategies and structures in the arts. • ACC GalerieWeimar, Germany

The International Studio Program of the ACC Gallery and the City of Weimar was founded in 1994. Our goal is to combine the promotion of artists with the presentation of contemporary art in the urban space, to serve as a meeting place and to attract international attention. In this way, international cultural exchange is promoted and prejudices are broken down. The City of Weimar supports the program by providing a studio with an attached apartment in the Städtisches Atelierhaus Weimar - one of the oldest buildings of its kind in Germany. Three-quarters of the monthly stipend of 1,000 euros is provided by the City of Weimar. The remaining quarter is provided by the ACC Gallery Weimar, which organizes the worldwide application process, convenes the independent jury, and supports the three artists invited each year throughout their residency in Weimar.
