Stuudio Labus is an artist-run residency programme primarily designed for fiber and textile artists. Our primary aim is to cultivate an environment that fosters creativity, experimentation, and introspection for artists working within the textile field. We strive to offer a platform for sharing skills, experiences, and connections within the vibrant world of fiber and textile art. Situated in an industrial area of Tallinn, Estonia, our studio is located within a former cement factory building. Our residency can accommodate 1-2 artists, with stays ranging from a minimum of two weeks to a maximum of three months. An integral part of our residency programme is the introduction to Estonia's fiber and textile art scene. This includes events, workshops, visits to studios and cultural institutions, and more. We extend a warm invitation to residents to actively partake in these activities.
"MASSIA is based in the Estonian countryside, near the Baltic sea, about 180 km south of Tallinn, and 140 km north of Riga (Latvia). The residency is located in the old school house of Massiaru, a little village with about thirty inhabitants, surrounded by forests, fields and bogs. MASSIA is a project and residency space for individuals and groups from any field – artists, practitioners, researchers, scientists, activists, etc., who seek to examine and determine their own conditions of work. It is a self-organised residency that operates without staff and asks for participatory ways of being. MASSIA is for people who can motorize their own artistic and knowledge production, not only responding to the opportunities given by the institutional market. Initiated and run by artists, researchers and practitioners themselves, MASSIA is a user-created informal residency. There is no selection process and it is open to anyone as long as there are rooms available and as long as prospective participants agree with the basic principles laid out in MASSIA basics. KORDONair facilitates art in dialogue with architecture and environment. It explores social and artistic dimensions of space, diversity of culture and wilderness. The interdisciplinary residency is located in the UNESCO biosphere reserve on the border of Kärdla city, the capital of Hiiumaa island. The mission of the residency is to initiate discussions on the relationship between the built and natural environment, to create an international network and to involve the inhabitants of Hiiumaa island. KORDONair was founded in 2018 at the historical border guard house (anno 1830). It offers residency possibilities to artists, architects, filmmakers, researchers etc to critically engage with the surroundings. Residents are encouraged to finish their residency period by finding ways through exhibition, workshop, and open studio to meet the local community. [Photo: KORDONair]
Kullaaugu Film and Site-specific Music Residency will bring together musicians and composers with filmmakers from around the world to create music specifically for films or specific environments. The residency will be located at a beautiful countryside village in South-East Estonia 30 km from Tartu – Ahja. Kullaaugu will invite musicians from Europe and around the world. In collaboration with film-, animation- and video artists, and inspired by surrounding environment, original sound design and/or music will be born.
